Mazeltov to Mark !!!

Whilst I too would much rather fly with Capt. Collier than on my own and there are not many that would take the opposite position I'm sure!! Is is not the case in the rotary world that a student pilot, once qualified can fly solo whilst waiting for the coveted poo brown plastic folder. As long as such flight has been signed off by an Instructor). (Essentially the same conditions as pre skills test solo flight.) This is certainly true in the SECOND best club in the world, that of the fixed wing PPL ;-P

Hi Joel

All ways enjoy keeping up to date with your Helicopter ownership experiences, keep up the good work. If you ever need a hand with your spring cleaning of G-EWAW drop me a line.

I think you will find that the insurance money was actually used to retrofit pockets to officers socks.

Joking apart, I saw one of these at a trade show a few years ago. I say saw it - because all I could do was look at it because the windspeed was more than 6 m/s. It was rapidly discounted as useless for the Isle of Man. We have used the fire service aerial ladder platform for airborne shots of collisions etc to good effect.

There are however, some really serious UAV's on the market. I remember looking at one helo which you could have given the kids a ride in too.

In the phrase 'serious UAV' I am discounting the likes of Reaper and Predator, by the way.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your response (and interest). We haven't checked the light itself because at the same time the DC volt meter and sometimes the Attitude Indicator simultaneously dis-engage which would indicate that the problem is something to do with a voltage drop along the way. I will however arrange for it to be checked just so that we can properly eliminate the possibility.

Thanks

I know nothing about helicopter engineering but please bear with me - could it be that the light has a loose connection behind it? All the work you have done on the generator cannot do it any harm, and dry is always better that wet when electrics are involved, but if this has not solved the issue I would now be checking the light and its contacts to eliminate them from the inquiry.

Anyway, do keep us posted, I always enjoy reading your blog and wish that I could also one day own a helicopter however frustrating the maintenance!
