Carter Copter Concept

Carter Copter Concept

Carter Aviation Technologies a concept aircraft company based in Texas, USA have taken a huge leap forward towards production of it’s prototype aircraft CCTD1, after Textron which owns Bell and Cessna signed a 40 year licensing agreement with it.

The Carter Copter, shown in the picture left, is a hybrid aircraft and aims to offer 400mph flight speeds with its mixture of helicopter, fixed wing and autogyro technology. As you (should) all know, forward flight speed in a helicopter is limited because the advancing rotor blade loses efficiency the faster it goes.

CAT are hoping to overcome this limitation by utilising a prop at the rear to increase thrust and wings to provide additional lift.

By · Comments (1)

Say goodbye to ATIS if Ofcom get their way. Ofcom is currently consulting for the second time on the subject of VHF spectrum charging. The charges being suggested will apply to air traffic control providers and aerodromes rather than individual aircraft with navaids also being exempt. It is proposed that charging is phased in over a five-year period with prices ranging from free for Fire and Rescue frequencies to £9,900 per year for an ATIS frequency. The consultation is available here. Make your views known.
